Rust Anti-Cheat Explained: What EAC Actually Detects
Rust uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), a kernel-level anti-cheat built by Epic. It scans your PC's memory, drivers and behaviour to catch cheat loaders. Understanding what EAC does is the difference between staying undetected and getting banned in the next wave — here's the full technical breakdown, and where private paid loaders like RageByte fit.

- Rust uses Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) — kernel-mode, signed driver, always-on
- EAC scans module signatures, loaded drivers and process memory
- Behavioural telemetry flags impossible aim, no-recoil and wallhack patterns
- Facepunch also runs manual review + community reports on top of EAC
- Free/public Rust cheats get flagged in days; private loaders survive by rebuilding per wave

Does Rust use kernel-level anti-cheat?
Yes. Easy Anti-Cheat installs a kernel driver (EasyAntiCheat.sys / EasyAntiCheatEOS.sys depending on version) that loads before Rust and runs with ring-0 privileges. That means it can enumerate other drivers, inspect process memory, and block user-mode debuggers or injection from touching RustClient.exe. This is why Cheat Engine and simple DLL injectors don't work on Rust anymore.
What EAC actually detects
1. Signature scans: known cheat DLL / driver hashes get instant-banned on load. 2. Driver enumeration: EAC lists every loaded kernel driver and flags anything unsigned or matching a known cheat driver. 3. Memory heuristics: hook detection in game functions (aim, render, input) and unexpected code in game modules. 4. Behavioural telemetry: mouse deltas that snap impossibly, headshot rates above human ceiling, no-recoil patterns, wall-tracking, prefire-through-walls. 5. Facepunch review queue: server-side heatmap of suspicious accounts, plus community reports (F7). 6. HWID banning: after a ban, EAC records SMBIOS, disk serial, MAC, GPU and TPM identifiers; a fresh Steam account on the same hardware bans instantly.
How to bypass Rust anti-cheat in 2026
The only working approach in 2026 is a private paid loader signed per download, rebuilt after every EAC wave, paired with a HWID spoofer to defeat post-ban hardware tracking. RageByte does exactly this — see /eac-bypass for the technical writeup and /hwid-spoofer for hardware ID resets. Behaviourally, tune hitchance below 100%, leave partial recoil in, and don't wall-track — EAC's telemetry catches obvious bots even if the loader isn't detected.
What EAC can't do
EAC can't scan hardware it doesn't touch. That's why DMA cheats — where a second PC reads Rust's memory over PCIe — bypass EAC's software layer entirely. It also can't defeat well-hidden manual play patterns; a good silent-aim config with hitchance ~65% and partial recoil is effectively invisible to EAC's behavioural side.
